I love my chosen family - handmade buttons!

One of the most amazing things you get to do when you're an artist is hang out with other artists! I'm so grateful for all of the special beautiful humans I've gotten to know and I am impressed daily with their generosity and talent. My life and home has become even more beautifully adorned with their art, crystals, jewelry, toys ... I am sitting in my living room right now looking all around the room and taking note of the pieces I'm so blessed to have surrounding me.

One of my dearest friends, Rebecca, is the only other artist I know who does as many types of artist creation as I do. Maybe more! We don't do all the same arts -- but we each do so many!

Rebecca taught me to knit. She came to visit years ago and ahead of her visit I received a box of needles and beautiful yarn. I told her I was pretty sure she was wasting her time, but she insisted. And within two hours of us sitting down together I was knitting! WHAT?!? I always make sure to tell people, when they're saying they tried and just couldn't get it, that it was another six months before I did a project that didn't involve me swearing and throwing it across the room.

Recently, Rebecca started making buttons. She encouraged me to join her but I was knee deep in getting my Adobe Graphic Design Certificates and going in about 100 different directions. I've got the links and I really do want to try my hand.

Then about a week ago i got a message asking if I could use some buttons ... In a problem I am very familiar with in my own life, she's been having so much fun making the buttons but didn't really have a project to use them with. I assured her I would put them to very VERY good use!

So these beautiful pieces arrived this week.

And I found a home for the first one.

I love this bag -- crocheted by me with 100% cotton yarn. Approximately 8"x7". The button is the perfect way to adorn this bag and I'm excited to see who will take it home. I'm also very excited to create other things that can be topped off with a beautiful button or two.

Thank you, Rebecca! You are amazing - as an artist and a friend. I am grateful for you!
